FATE: THE WINX SAGA - Drama Review

The long-running Italian cartoon about a group of best-friend fairies, Winx Club, is one of the few explicitly girl-focused shows to make the transition to a darker, edgier live-action. Fate: The Winx Saga by Netflix casts the same spell on the bright, visually vibrant cartoon that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale did on their family-friendly Archie Comics counterparts. It has a surprisingly nuanced plot that delves into the consequences of war across generations — but it comes at a cost, both for the characters and for that familiar sense of friendship and mutual support. In the first episode, we see Bloom (Abigail Cowen) moving into Alfea, a boarding school for fairies and specialists (male fairies) in the Otherworld. The first person she speaks with is a specialist named Sky (Danny Griffin), who discovers that Bloom is from the "realm" of California and that she had no idea she was a fairy three months ago. She meets her roommates, including Stella (Hannah

NEVERTHELESS (2021) - Drama Review

Nevertheless 2021 Cover

Nevertheless (2021) is one of the famous South Korean dramas directed by Kim Ga Rang and Jang Ji Yeon and written by Jung Won. Romance and Drama are some of the genres represented in this drama series. The series has gotten quite famous nowadays so here are my two cents on it.

The story Nevertheless (2021) revolves around Yoo Na Bi and Park Jae Eon, students of Hongseo University’s Sculpture Department. Yoo Na Bi was left shatter-hearted when she became aware of being cheated on by her ex-boyfriend and first love. This bitter experience has led her to develop a great mistrust of love and relationships.

Yet one encounter with Park Jae Eon and she wants to break her cow and experience the magical effects of love again. On the other hand, Park Jae Eon is a jovial and pleasant person who flirts with anybody and everybody but tends to play hard to get. He thinks relationships are a nuisance and likes to remain in his own business. One encounter with Yoo Na Bi and he wants to open up to her.

CAST AND ACTING:

Nevertheless 2021 Actors

Han So Hee
(Yoo Na Bi) had made the drama a lot better to watch with her cherubic face and did a good job in delivering her role. Her poor performance at times can be blamed on the poorly written script. Song Kang (Park Jae Eon) was a Greek God but does that matter when he ruined it with his almost emotionless face throughout the drama. I suppose he can't be blamed completely his part was badly conceived, and Han So Hee and Song Kang had a strained relationship. The director should have opted for a different cast.

REVIEW:

The only strength the drama Nevertheless (2021) has is that its story was realistic. It was far too predictable, and if you want to watch K-world for romance, you're out of luck. It does highlight the topic of commitments and relationships along with the fears that come with them significantly but it has way too many drawbacks. The story started with an incredible pace and an amazing storyline but later on became repetitive and lost its charm.

The sideline stories and couples were much more worth it and the cinematography was an eye candy but the fact that the main leads ruined it can’t be ignored. They didn’t go well with each other with their lacking chemistry and zero or more preferably negative character development. At one point it seemed like the ale leads were obsessed rather than in love with each other.

In my opinion, it was only a toxic relationship at the end of which the female lead stupidly threw herself in the male lead’s arms without learning a single lesson from her whole life. Worst of all, the show seemed like a theatrical performance of Shakespeare’s plays with the number of monologues it had for the female lead like she was the only character in the whole damn serial.

I really thought Nevertheless (2021) was some sort of psychological development drama showing gamophobia or fear of attachments and commitments in general and highlighting this sore spot of society getting bigger day by day but the director preferred to focus more on romance which crumbled the whole essence of drama and made it such a disappointment. If you have plenty of free time then you can go to watch it but if you have any other suggestions on your to-watch list, you can put them way below in that list.
