FATE: THE WINX SAGA - Drama Review

The long-running Italian cartoon about a group of best-friend fairies, Winx Club, is one of the few explicitly girl-focused shows to make the transition to a darker, edgier live-action. Fate: The Winx Saga by Netflix casts the same spell on the bright, visually vibrant cartoon that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale did on their family-friendly Archie Comics counterparts. It has a surprisingly nuanced plot that delves into the consequences of war across generations — but it comes at a cost, both for the characters and for that familiar sense of friendship and mutual support. In the first episode, we see Bloom (Abigail Cowen) moving into Alfea, a boarding school for fairies and specialists (male fairies) in the Otherworld. The first person she speaks with is a specialist named Sky (Danny Griffin), who discovers that Bloom is from the "realm" of California and that she had no idea she was a fairy three months ago. She meets her roommates, including Stella (Hannah

The Inheritors 2013 - Drama Review

The Inheritors Cover

The Heirs (Inheritors) is one of the best South Korean dramas directed by Lee Eung Bok and written by Kim Eun Sook. Romance, Drama, and Rom-com are some of the genres represented in this drama series. The IMDb rating for The Heirs is 7.5/10. The most anticipated series of 2013. This drama is rated as a gem in K-dramas and perceived as a ray of light in your tiresome world, here are my two cents on THE HEIRS:

Story Line:

The Heirs (Inheritors) narrate the story of typical and filthy rich high school students who are supposed to take over their family businesses. Kim Tan is a wealthy heir to the largest Korean Conglomerate, the Jeguk Group. He is exiled to the US by his half-brother due to their enmity on Kim Tan being a mistress’s child and is now residing in California with all the luxuries. Cha Eun-sang is an extremely poor girl with a mute mother who is working as a housemaid to some rich people (later revealed to be Kim Tan’s family). She has a sister who lives in the United States and as a means of running away from her life; she goes to meet her sister but gets into an argument with her which is witnessed by Kim Tan who offers her to stay with him. As time goes by, the bye gets closer to each other and he eventually falls in love with Eun-sang. When his fiance Yoo Rachel comes to the States to get him back, he is at a dead-end where he has to choose either one, his love or duty. Eventually, both of them go back to their homes.

Eun-sang and Kim Tan now live in the same house and attend the same high school when Eun-sang gets a scholarship from Chairman Kim who happens to own the prestigious school where many wealthy heirs are studying including Choi Young-do, heir of Zeus Group and childhood friend turned enemy of Kim Tan. At first, he bullies Eun-sang due to Kim Tan but later falls in love with her. Thus, starts a great love story with myriads of emotions.

Cast and Acting:

The Inheritors Cast

Lee Min-ho
(Kim Tan) made the drama exciting with his looks and mind-blowing acting. He once again proved that undoubtedly, he is the king of K-world. Park Shin-Hye (Cha Eun-sang) could have done better. The whole drama she had the same damsel in distress expression that needed a knight in shining armour to be protected. Till the end, all she did was sacrifice herself and never once stood for herself but maybe it was the result of spending an eternity in poverty. Kim Woo-Bin (Choi Young-do) was also a great addition to the cast and did exceptionally well but there was no twinkle in his life when he claims he is in love with the female though his acting was great.

Final Thoughts:

The Inheritors drama has it all; star-studded cast, great cinematography and ideal pace, and character development. The Heirs is a remarkable piece of work but often over hyped. It is a typical rich man poor woman romance in high school with bitchy characters and controlling parents. The story was way too predictable and the comedy was cliche. The leads had great chemistry with everyone except between them and the continuous sacrifices and dilemmas by Eun-sang were annoying. She did nothing more than to willingly give up on herself, her love, and everything else and then cry the whole time. The drama had a typical Cinderella story but stood out due to its remarkable elements mentioned at the beginning of the review. It is a must-watch on your to-do list but you are not forced to put it at the top of the list.
