FATE: THE WINX SAGA - Drama Review

The long-running Italian cartoon about a group of best-friend fairies, Winx Club, is one of the few explicitly girl-focused shows to make the transition to a darker, edgier live-action. Fate: The Winx Saga by Netflix casts the same spell on the bright, visually vibrant cartoon that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale did on their family-friendly Archie Comics counterparts. It has a surprisingly nuanced plot that delves into the consequences of war across generations — but it comes at a cost, both for the characters and for that familiar sense of friendship and mutual support. In the first episode, we see Bloom (Abigail Cowen) moving into Alfea, a boarding school for fairies and specialists (male fairies) in the Otherworld. The first person she speaks with is a specialist named Sky (Danny Griffin), who discovers that Bloom is from the "realm" of California and that she had no idea she was a fairy three months ago. She meets her roommates, including Stella (Hannah

Doctors 2016: Drama Review – Are They the Best or the Worst?

Doctor

Free and have nothing to do but still have no plans to waste your precious time, well I have the perfect pastime for you. Watch Doctors (2016), and I promise that it will keep you awake at night. Every second you spent would be worth your precious time.

Medical, Drama, Romance, and Friendship are some of the genres that have been used in this film. Oh, Choong-Hwan directed this drama, and Ha Myung-Hee is the author of this piece.

Story Line:

The show starts with a young troubled teenager Yoo Hye-Jung who due to her past has developed a gangster personality. Her rebellious nature and mistrust of everyone made her a social outcast. She lives with her kind and caring paternal grandmother whom she later started to adore. Hong Ji-Hong was a surgeon but due to a medical accident left his job and became a biology teacher.

Many of his students have a crush on him for his looks and caring personality. He develops a determination to break the walls Hye-Jung had built around herself as he had seen the spark of intelligence in her; she also happens to be her neighbor. Jin Seo-woo became friends with Hye-Jung but when she became close with Ji-hong (Seo-woo has a crush on him) and beats her in her studies, she became her rival and framed them for involvement in an intimate student-teacher relationship.

The show leaps thirteen years and Hye-Jung is shown to be a successful neurosurgeon that has joined Gookil Hospital for the sake of revenge. The hospital’s Director and Vice President’s son had operated on Hye-Jung’s grandmother thirteen years ago but a mishap caused her death and he refused to own his mistakes. He turns out to be Seo-woo’s father. Hye-Jung’s main aim is making the Jin family’s destruction by highlighting their corruption and making them accept their mistakes. During her journey, she again meets Ji-Hong, the adopted son of the Chairman of the hospital and now a renowned neurosurgeon, along with other fellow neurosurgeons thus starting a tale full of love, emotions, and friendship.

The cast of Doctors (2016):

Cast of Doctors (2016)

Undeniably the strength of this Doctors (2016) show is based on its strong cast and its remarkable performances. Kim Rae-won (portraying Hong Ji-hong) nailed his role. The way he cared for his students as a teacher and his subordinates during the show made me fall in love with him and made me wonder why I never had such a teacher in my life.

Then there is our female lead Park Shin-Hye who doesn’t even need any introduction. Her gangster personality along with a heart made of gold is one of the best combos in the history of K-Dramas and I firmly believe no one but she could have done justice to the character of Yoo Hye-Jung. Yoon Kung-Sang had been a promising character from the start which will give you a reason to continue watching the rest of the drama and for me, he was a walking Greek God. Lee Sung-Kyung was someone I didn’t admire in the beginning but she did prove to be a great actress and the real one to show true character development as the story progressed.

Jang Hyun-sung (portrayed as Kim Tae-ho, the head of the neurosurgery department) for his father-like figure and Kim Min-Seok (portrayed as Choi Kang-Soo, 1st-year resident neurosurgeon) for his charming personality and humor were the real heartthrobs.

Final Thoughts:

In Doctors (2016), it covers a vast area of everyday problems. This drama is nothing like your everyday rom-com but is closely related to reality. The plus point is the character development in the story. If you expect a typical male-dominated story or a cheesy rom-com then this drama is not for you.

Thank God, there is a drama with no plotting ex, family issues, and rivalries.  It is a roller coaster of emotions but the friendship and understanding between all the characters was mind-blowing. The sets of Doctors were perfectly designed although it was expected that the surgery scenes would be of poor quality the director proved me wrong. The only drawback was that Yoon-do should have found his other half.

Overall, if you are a medical enthusiast or value realistic dramas with everyday issues then it’s a must-watch for you. Not having it on the top of your watch list, I must say it’s your loss.
