Story Line:
As the name suggests Strong Girl Do Bong-Soon, the drama revolves around
Do Bong Soon a peanut-sized, cute, and seemingly harmless girl with innate
superhuman strength passed down from generation to generation in the females in
her family and she might lose it if she exploits the power besotted on her for
personal gains or wrongdoings. The only
problem is that she doesn’t want these powers for two major reasons; firstly,
her mother favors her twin brother because they think she can protect herself,
and secondly, she wants to be a petite and fragile woman. After all, she has a
heart that beats only for her childhood friend and police officer In Guk Doo
who loves such type woman and already has a girlfriend. Her biggest wish in
life is to develop a video game with herself as the main character.
Ahn Min Hyuk is the CEO of a top leading gaming
company A in soft, the best in its field. He comes from a rich family but is at
odds with them. His stepbrothers envy him and his grandfather wants him to take
over the family business. He receives anonymous life threats and does not trust
the police. One day he witnesses Bong-Soon beating up some thugs and is
mesmerised by her impressive strength and fighting skills. He pesters her to be
his bodyguard and in return also offers an internship at the planning
department for new games in his company along with helping her in controlling
her strength.
Meanwhile, there is a mysterious psychopath in Do
Bong Dong, the neighbourhood in which Bong Soon lives, who kidnaps young girls.
A string of explainable yet similar kidnappings catches the eyes of Bong Soon
along with the police, especially Guk Doo, and thus starts a tale of mysteries,
love, romance, and humour.
Cast and Acting:
Park Bo-young (Do Bong-soon) was the perfect choice for being the female lead, she gave those young, innocent, and naïve looks and became a total bad ass when needed. She had delivered her emotions greatly. Park Hyung-Sik (Ahn Min-hyuk) was a total playboy and spoilt type of person at the beginning but how his role changed was quite admirable. No, it was not cringe and he was incredible. Ji Soo (In Guk-doo) was a perfect addition to the cast and played well the role of an honest and dedicated detective. Jang Mi-Kwan (Kim Jang-Hyun, the psychopath kidnapper) was not a male role but rather a side role. He became a prominent addition to the cast at the end of the show. I think his acting was perfect because one I never met a psychopath and two he didn’t have many scenes.
i'm in love with this drama. I'm glad you wrote a blog on this drama.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The drama definitely has its cringe moments, but I appreciate the implicit symbolism it had with the super-strength. And ofcourse I appreciated the lighthearted humour with the darker undertones.
