K-world is full of sweet romance and laughter. Here is a review of quite a famous drama that every K-fan might have on his to-watch list. Her Private Life (2019) is one of the famous South Korean dramas directed by Hong Jong Chan and written by Kin Hye Young. Romance, Comedy, and Drama are some of the genres represented in this drama series.
PLOT:
The story revolves around Sung Deok Mi, the talented chief curator of Cheum Museum of Art who never gets her due credit. Behind her cool and professional persona lies the ultimate fan girl of famous Cha Shi An. She runs the famous fan page “SiNaGil” for him. This crush of hers has led to several breakups and an extremely affected personal life. When the director of the museum Uhm So Hye is being investigated for fraud and embezzlement she resigns with the ultimate motive of returning back, and former artist, Ryan Gold, becomes the new director. He is a strict person who does not cares what happens in other people’s lives.
He is allergic to caffeine and had developed Stendhal Syndrome leading to his retirement as an artist. When he comes to know about Sung Deok Mi’s secret, he begins to take an interest in her. After the rumors of Sung Deok Mi and Cha Shi An begins, Ryan Gold suggests Sung Deok Mi start a fake relationship but they both eventually fall in love with each other. Meanwhile, Uhm So Hye’s spoilt daughter Kim Hyo Jin interns at the museum and wants to prove that Sung Deok MI and Ryan Gold are in a fake relationship along with helping her mother. She is also another crazy fan of Cha Shi An who secretly runs another fan page for him under the name “Sindy”. Thus starts an enchanting tale full of romance, comedy, emotions,, and twists.
CAST AND ACTING:
Park Min Young (Sung Deok Mi) is a cool and full of emotions, yet a professional woman. Park Min Young did a great job in performing her role. Her face gave off a cheery and professional aura impressively. Kim Jae Wook (Ryan Gold) was also a great addition to the cast. Though I feel he looked older to be with Park Min Young, they both were perfect together and had great chemistry. Their acting was too good and at points,,, it seemed to be reality.
REVIEW:
The drama was a perfect combo of great acting and an equally fabulous direction even with an ordinary script. The drama began with a promising storyline and had great character as well as relationship development. It was undoubtedly one of the best and the idea of fangirling along with arts was a bonus point. The story was phenomenal and as a matter of fact, it was not too average. It had its unique elements but the best one was the incredible chemistry between male leads.
The drama nonetheless had its fair share of unneeded characters and extra storylines but they were not so boring. It became somewhat tedious in the last few episodes but to be honest it never lost its touch. The drama had all the emotions perfectly balanced with an equal amount of humor and romance along with a tinge of past traumas, syndromes, and depression issues such as child abandonment, loss of close ones, psychological ordeals, etc. The major advantage that made it all more fun to watch was that it never lacked communication among characters and had little to no misunderstandings but still managed to have an awesome storyline. The drama is a must-watch with no element that can make you think about your decision twice.
